One of the most frequent questions from visitors is whether there is a way to get free tickets to visit the Alhambra.
In this section we explain different options so that the entrance fee is not an impediment to visit and enjoy the Alhambra.
The first option to access the Alhambra for free is to visit it on International World Heritage Day. This day commemorates the signing in Paris of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage Convention.
It is celebrated on November 16th every year and on that date you can enter the Alhambra free of charge, as there is an open day to the monumental complex and its associated assets, which is coupled by a programme of cultural activities.
Since the tickets are nominative and the capacity is limited, the Patronato de la Alhambra y el Generalife establishes each year the mechanism to apply for free tickets for that date. Normally it is possible to acquire them through the official sales channels for free.
The monument's management also offers a limited number of free tickets to visit the Alhambra on weekends to people born and resident in Granada and its province. These tickets can be booked on the official website of the monument.
The official educational centres of the European Union, exchange groups and social centres also have the possibility of showing their students the Alhambra through self-guided visits led by the teachers themselves. These guided tours are also free of charge.
Regarding general admission tickets, children under the age of 12 are free of charge, although they must reserve a ticket for organisational and security reasons.
Apart from the purchase of tickets, it should be noted that the Alhambra is a monumental complex with a fascinating history and spectacular architecture that is worth discovering and understanding.
For this reason, enjoying a guided tour of the Alhambra is the best way to get to know the monument. There are many options, timetables and itineraries.
And if you prefer a guide exclusively for you, you can book a private tour of the Alhambra that will be an unforgettable experience.
