Sacromonte Abbey, situated on Valparaíso Hill, is a monumental complex that is essential for understanding the spiritual and cultural history of Granada. It emerged following the discoveries of 1588 and 1595 —the relics of the martyrs and the lead books— which transformed the site into an important centre of pilgrimage. Its sacred caves, Baroque collegiate church, seventeenth-century cloister and sweeping views of the Alhambra make it one of the most distinctive and evocative corners of the city.
