Admission and regulations in the Alhambra and Generalife Monumental Complex

  • The number of tickets is limited; we recommend purchasing them in advance due to the high demand.
  • The maximum number of tickets per person is 10 (except for authorized travel agents).

Access to the Monument

  • It is recommended that you arrive ahead of time even if you have bought tickets in advance, especially on weekends or holidays, given the large number of visitors.
  • The estimated time to complete a full visit is approximately 3 hours.
  • You will only be allowed to access the monument in the morning, afternoon or night schedule depending on the type of ticket you purchased (see type of ticket). Organize your visit based on the assigned schedule for accessing the Nasrid Palaces.
  • If you have not arranged for tickets, you will have to purchase them at the ticket office located in the Entrance Pavilion, and then access to the Monument from the Alcazaba, Nasrid Palaces and the Generalife.
  • If you have a ticket it is recommended to gain access to the area through the Gate of Justice (Puerta de la Justicia).

Access to the Nasrid Palaces

  • You will only be able to enter within the time indicated on your ticket, as there is a capacity control in this area. If you don’t enter in the specific time, you will lose the right to visit this area.
  • If your entrance time for the Nasrid Palace coincides with the last pass (one hour before closing time) you will have to visit the Generalife and Alcazaba earlier, given that the tour of the area takes at minimum a half hour.

Basic regulations for accessing the Monument

  • Reserved tickets should be collected at least an hour in advance your time of entry for the Nasrid Palaces.
  • All visitors should bring a ticket with a bar code, including those whose admission to the monument is free, such as children less than 12 years old.
  • You should enter the Nasrid Palaces during the time printed on your ticket.
  • For security reasons children younger than 8 should have their hands holded.
  • Backpacks, large bags and baby strollers should be left in the cloakroom. The Patronato de la Alhambra y el Generalife provides with a service for loaning porta-baby backpacks. You can leave your luggage in the official left-luggage office of the monument or in left-luggage offices in the centre of Granada or next to the Alhambra. Visit the Services section for more information.
  • Do not drink, eat or smoke (except in in designated areas).
  • No photography with tripods or flash (not even for evening visits), without authorized permission.
  • Respect and follow the instructions.
  • Do not touch the decorations on the walls.
  • Do not touch or lean on the columns.
  • Do not touch the plants in the garden.
  • Beware in order to prevent falls.
  • Use the recycle bins; do not throw away anything on the floor; collaborate with the cleanliness of the monument.

  • Do not take off your clothes or shoes.
  • Do not lie down on benches or in gardens.
  • No pets allowed except guide dogs to assist the disabled.
  • For security purposes, preservation or celebration of events, the Council of the Alhambra and the Generalife can modify itineraries, limit access to certain spaces or certain hours or temporarily call off the visit.
  • Recordings are made to ensure the security of the visitors and the conservation of the monument, respecting the current legislation.
